He's sold 350 million books (as of 2006), has countless movies, and is a bastion of modern horror. If you want to talk awards, here's Wikipedia[1]:

King has won 6 Bram Stoker awards, 6 Horror Guild awards, 5 Locus Awards, 3 World Fantasy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004)
the 1996 O. Henry Award, a Hugo Award in 1982 for the non-fiction book Danse Macabre. He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 by the
Horror Writers' Association and a Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters from the National Book Foundation in 2003
(see Critical Response, above). In 2007, King received an award for lifetime achievement from the Canadian Literary Guild, the only
non-Canadian to be bestowed this award.

He's got a Hugo. That's serious shit we're talking about. They're bestowed upon writers like Isaac Asimov, not Stephenie Meyer. He's also been writing longer than Meyer's been alive. (His debut novel, Carrie, which certainly was not the first creative thing he'd ever written, was published the same year SMeyer was born, and his first short story, "Land of 1,000,000 Years Ago" was written fifteen years prior, when he was twelve!) His book on writing clearly shows that while he might not be the greatest writer alive, he takes time and care with the craft of writing and tries to better himself. This is a man who takes the English language seriously, unlike SMeyer (don't get us started on her thesaurus rape).

Speaking of SMeyer, she has 42 million books sold, and all the awards she's got are mere sales figures, or the Kid's Choice Awards and the Golden Delete Key. FYI- The Golden Delete Key is not a legit literary award, and is actually like winning a Raspberry (in other words, a reward for being BAD), so it can only be appreciated by those who are in it for teh lulz (like us). What fame is Stephen trying to steal?

You compare shit like Twilight to THIS??

We're not saying he's perfect, of course, like all human beings, he and his stories have flaws. SMayo SMeyer however, has flaws that are too obvious to not miss.

That quote is brought to you by Nuttymadam. Nuttymadam: making people with half a brain want to gouge their eyes out and bash their heads with a blunt object since 2007!

Anyways, my dear Nutty, it would appear you're quite wrong. See, Stephen King, as was stated earlier, has sold 350 million books over a span of 31-32 years, which works out to approx. 11 and two-thirds million books per year. Smeyer, however has only sold 42 million books over 4-5 years, which works out to approx. 9 million books per year. Now, I realize someone with as few brain cells as yourself may have has problems with math, but it doesn't take a super genius to get the fact that 11 and two-thirds million > 9 million. Besides, quantity ≠ quality.

Statistics: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG (though that isn't surprising).

Just one more awesome thing:Edit

Ever heard of Epic Rap Battles of History? Well, one episode featured an actor playing him whilst facing off Edgar Allan Poe (another author who SMeyer will be no match against.) Stephen King himself watched the rap battle and tweeted about it: [2]

And judging by that tweet, he's still giving credit to Edgar Allan Poe, even though the majority of the votes went to King. He sure is humble, and funny too. Check out these follow-up tweets! [3] & [4].

Stephenie, if she were to see a rap battle they do on her vs. another author (preferably J.K. Rowling), she'd probably be all butt-hurt of all votes towards her rival while claiming that she had the better rhymes. Now if only she doesn't go into the rap business and ruin it too!
